Although the magazine Cosmopolitan has no relevance to the genre of Mile Breaker, it was chosen due to its successful marketing techniques that have drawn in its costumers for years.
Cosmopolitan was first published and distributed in 1886 as a family magazine however, it became a women's magazine (their most recent and successful genre) in 1965, under the direction of the company Hearst Communications. In order to market their product, Hearst Communications decided to concentrate in the current trend now in the 20th century, "Social Media." Not only does cosmopolitan have advertisements that can pop up when one is in the regular search websites but they also have collaborated with Snapchat (an app commonly used by teenagers, celebrities and recently by businesses) although their targeted audience is not specifically for teenagers, their informative tips for Women in the form of Snaps, have helped them market their successful magazine.
As the creator of Mile Breaker, the marketing plan for the magazine would involve sources such as business partnerships with local and all throughout the nation races, internet advertisements and social media. All these sources are currently the trend among my target audience. Since the magazine concentrates on runners, having my magazine sponsor races whether local or national, will open the door to having Mile Breaker be viewed by the people attending the race. Social Media would be used widely due to being the trend and because most runners currently have social media where they hope to find more people that share the same interest as them. Finally Internet ads will be created because they will appear once any person (in this case mostly runners) search anything related to running.
